SLMath

The Simons Laufer Mathematical Sciences Institute (SLMath), formerly known as the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI), is a landmark of U.S. and world collaborative mathematical research. Located in the hills above the campus of the University of California, Berkeley, SLMath is an independent non-profit that has served the mathematical sciences community for 40 years.

Our topic-focused programs and workshops bring together established and future leaders in research in an environment that promotes creativity and the interchange of ideas. Over 1,700 mathematical scientists spend time at SLMath's headquarters each year. It is a place where breakthroughs are made, research areas are created, and brilliant careers are launched. The Institute is a model of innovation and best practices in encouraging inclusivity across its activities.

SLMath has been supported since its origins by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), joined by other U.S. government agencies, private foundations and corporations, individual donors, and over 115 academic sponsor institutions in the United States and around the globe.
