The University of Connecticut Foundation, Inc. is a tax-exempt corporation that operates exclusively to promote the educational, scientific, cultural, and recreational objectives of the University of Connecticut. As the primary fundraising vehicle for the University, the Foundation's mission is to solicit, receive and administer gifts and financial resources from private sources to support UConn's pursuit of excellence in teaching, research, and public service. Private gifts support students, faculty, research, and programs at all of UConn's 14 schools and colleges in addition to its world-class research centers and model athletics program.
A job at the UConn Foundation offers a competitive salary and generous benefits. The Foundation is housed in a state-of-the-art building on a classic New England campus and has a second office in Farmington, Conn., that supports the University of Connecticut Health Center, and UConn's medical and dental schools. The Foundation recognizes that success requires a vigorous and sustained commitment to cultivating relationships with UConn's supporters. Development officers and support staff at the Foundation receive the encouragement, tools, and training they need to reach their professional and personal goals. The Foundation also features a new enterprise-wide database, FELIX, that brings cutting-edge technology to cultivation. The Foundation building's location offers full access to all UConn campus amenities including restaurants and cafes, exercise facilities, cultural events, classes, an art museum, the famed UConn Dairy Bar, and a nationally renowned athletics program that creates a spirit of camaraderie and enthusiasm. Adjacent to the campus will be the new Storrs Center, bustling retail, housing, and office development that will include a town square across from the School of Fine Arts complex. One of the most ambitious public/private initiatives in Connecticut's history, Storrs Center will offer the college-town ambiance that students, faculty, and staff have come to expect in the 21st century. Storrs and the town of Mansfield offer hotels, shopping, dining, hiking, biking, year-round theater, sporting events, and an active town community center. Mansfield and several surrounding towns offer some of the most highly ranked school systems in the state. Located in pastoral eastern Connecticut, Storrs offers a respite from the frenetic pace of urban life, yet is an easy drive to major cities. Hartford is just 30 minutes away, Providence 60 minutes, Boston 90 minutes, and New York 2.5 hours.
