Broward Housing Solutions

 At Broward Housing Solutions (BHS), we have been providing quality, permanent and affordable housing opportunities to low-income and/or homeless people who also have mental illness since February 1993. Populations served include homeless veterans, chronically homeless seniors (ages 55+), foster youth (ages 18-23), chronically homeless single adults and families.

BHS has been providing affordable and supportive housing to those experiencing persistent, economic hardship and have mental illness in Broward County. BHS operates a scattered site, 19-owned and operated, multi-family properties located in:  Fort Lauderdale, Coral Springs, Hollywood, North Lauderdale, Pompano Beach and Oakland Park. Apartment complexes include 156-bedrooms within 96-apartments. Additionally, BHS collaborates with third-party landlords who provide housing for an additional 146 residents and families. BHS currently offers affordable and supportive housing programs housing approximately 400-residents.

The root cause of homelessness is the lack of affordable housing. The serious social issue that BHS® addresses is homelessness in Broward County. BHS®' strategic approach couples affordable housing with supportive and stabilization services. This proven-method ensures that residents are provided the resources needed to succeed far beyond housing. How? BHS® arms tenants with the tools necessary for self-sufficiency and independent living. The outcome: BHS® continues providing housing services to clients and their family to remain housed, stabilize, recover all while becoming financially empowered to earn more income, keep their income and, grow the possibilities of becoming more fiscally sound.

Aligned with our strategic plan for growth – amplifying the number of low-income or homeless people with disabilities who also have a diagnosed mental illness is an ongoing goal for BHS. With this ongoing initiative in mind, we are seeking an experienced program professional to help us augment additional affordable housing units via acquisition of new and current funding sources.
