La Ola Casa Hogar is a children’s shelter located in Jocotepec, Mexico, about 35 minutes outside of Guadalajara. We are an interfaith children’s ministry. Our scope is more than that of an orphanage in that we care for abandoned and abused children as well as orphans. We are supported solely by private donations. We currently house more than 15 children ranging in ages from 2 – 17, providing shelter, food, clothing, education, English instruction and other extracurricular activities. We offer medical, dental and psychological services, most of which are provided through the generosity of local health care professionals.
La Ola is not just about restoring the lives of children. It is about providing a place where others can have the opportunity to serve. More than just a physical shelter, we want to shelter these children from the storms of life that have surrounded them and to help them find meaning and purpose for their lives.
To maintain La Ola, we depend upon financial contributions from individuals and groups. If you would like to help support our children, please consider making a donation through our Website.
Additionally, we rely on volunteer workers and missionaries. Through La Ola, volunteers, college students, and missionaries can gain experience in childcare, teaching, and various administrative duties. Primarily, we need individuals that can stay long-term (6 months and longer). The ability to speak Spanish is not required, but it will definitely be of value as many of the children are not fluent in English. We do provide room and boarding at the orphanage. If you would like to learn more about volunteering with us, please visit our Website or contact as at firstname.lastname@example.org.
