Mother to Mother came about from the desire to create a community engagement and education program tailored specifically to the needs and resources of the local communities of Park Slope, Sunset Park and Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

After spending several months researching and attending different English Language programs across Brooklyn and Manhattan, we noticed a consistent gap across ESL programs: the lack of classes available to mothers with young children.

We aim to provide English language classes for mothers when their children are young and at home, alongside other enrichment programs, giving space to learn the language; providing tools to understand the municipal and state education, healthcare, social, and public benefits systems; and to have the skills to apply for work, eventually, when their children begin school.

Women in Mother to Mother are also able to meet other mothers, women, and community members outside of their home, helping them connect to the neighborhoods and communities in which they live.
