    • Mission

    The German-American Heritage Foundation of the USA is an educational organization and serves as the national umbrella organization in which German-Americans work together on vital issues of common concern and promote their heritage. Its mission is to preserve and promote the heritage of Americans of German-speaking ancestry. The organization was founded in 1977 and chartered in 1978 as the United German-American Committee of the USA, Inc. (UGAC), which is an independent, tax-exempt educational not-for-profit organization. With almost 18,000 members throughout the United States, the GAHF continuously strives to add programs and services which nationally highlight the contributions and achievements of its ethnic group. The programs center on the premise that the they must include all ages, all generations, and all German-speaking ethnic groups. As such, we continue to preserve the past while addressing the interests of younger generations.

    The German-American Heritage Foundation runs the German-American Heritage Museum of the USA in Washington, DC.

    Our Mission

    The Heritage Museum will collect, record, preserve, and exhibit this rich cultural legacy. It will be a place for continuing discussion, study, and development of ideas about Germans, Swiss and Austrians, their heritage, their values, and their future. The Heritage Museum intends to make German-American history more readily available to broader audiences and easy to comprehend for all ages, thereby fostering mutual understanding and increasing public knowledge about the rich heritage of all Americans of German descent.
