Black Women Playwright's Group

  • About Us

The Black Women Playwrights’ Group is a service and advocacy organization for African American women writing for the professional American theater. African American women playwrights are small in number, have limited access to professional productions, and often operate without consistent support from dramaturges, theaters, and foundations. BWPG creates a conduit between African American women playwrights, theaters, foundations, and their fellow theater artists, to ensure that the voices heard on the American stage are rich and diverse.
