Fresh Start Intervention
The mission of Fresh Start Intervention is to intervene in the lives of youth and young adults’ ages 6 through 22, whose lives or surroundings are plagued with the use and/or activities of alcohol and other illicit drugs. Fresh Start Intervention functions as a catalyst providing a number of academic, emotional, and recreational support programs and resources to Maywood and the surrounding areas, including but not limited to; homework assistance, gang and drug prevention/intervention services, dance teams, sports, mentoring, GED preparation, and computer access/trainings.
Fresh Start also recognizes that a healthy community and a healthy home are vital components in ensuring that children avoid the pitfalls of gang and drug activity. To this end, Fresh Start is currently extending its services to include an employment program that will connect individuals with community resources that can address the barriers they have to gainful employment, as well as connect them to local employment opportunities.
