Healing Dialogue and Action, a program of Community Partners (fiscal sponsor)

  • About Us

Healing Dialogue and Action (HDA) is a California-based organization that creates healing with survivors, people who have experienced incarceration, communities impacted by violence, and advances transformative justice working towards a world free from violence. HDA’s innovative, healing-forward model, brings people together who have been directly impacted by violence. This includes family members of murder victims, loved ones of youth sentenced to extreme adult prison sentences, incarcerated individuals, and the formerly incarcerated who committed their crime when they were youth or young adults under the age of 25.

HDA’s core values guide our efforts to provide healing,

    ●     Listening: Healing and strength can come through listening to each other’s experiences and responding with respect and compassion.

    ●     Accompaniment: Be present in the journey of those whom we walk alongside.

    ●     Unique Path: Respect that each individual has their own unique path towards healing, and that the experiences of being a survivor and one who experiences incarceration are not mutually exclusive.

    ●     Community-led: Change occurs through the leadership of survivors, people who have experienced incarceration, and communities impacted by violence.

    ●     Racially Equitable: The injustice of our criminal justice system is rooted in the institutionalization of white supremacy. Our work recognizes racial inequality and the need to create a cultural, societal, and systemic shift towards more just and equitable communities.

    ●     Healing: Honor existing trauma of all our participants and integrate knowledge about trauma into our programs, policies, and actions.
