  • About Us

Founded in 1999, the Hispanic Interest Coalition of Alabama (¡HICA!) has built a solid reputation as Alabama's leading agency working with the Hispanic immigrant community. ¡HICA! is a statewide 501(c)(3) organization that engages and empowers Alabama's Hispanic community and its numerous cultures as an economic and civic integrator, social-resource connector, and statewide educator.

¡HICA! works towards its mission of social, civic, and economic integration through its four programs: 1)Strong Families -¡HICA!'s cornerstone that helps thousands of Hispanics new to Alabama learn about their community, find resources that facilitate integration, and improve their lives; 2) Asset Building & Economic Development - facilitates economic integration through services specifically aimed at securing employment, building family wealth, creating businesses, and strengthening community assets; 3) Immigration and Access to Justice – facilitates full civic integration by providing low-cost access to legal information and naturalization services; 4) Community Education and Engagement - engages Alabama's Hispanic community through leadership development and integration-focused training while promoting education about the Hispanic community to the host community.
