  • Mission

Mission Statement: To provide tangible services to women and children in Kenya East Africa.

Dorcas Destiny International is dedicated to transforming communities by addressing the root causes of poverty in the individual lives of women and children. Our work in Kenya is currently based in specific communities of informal settlements aka slums and a rural village in Migori County. Our programs target basic needs, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment. Our intention is to ultimately build sustainable communities and economic self sufficiency for the families we serve.

    Challenge:

In Kenya, severe poverty, lack of educational resources, and limited healthcare access hinder the potential of individuals, particularly women and children. These barriers prevent communities from achieving growth and stability.

    Our Solution:

We address both immediate and long-term needs through a comprehensive approach:

    • Child Sponsorship Program: An individual or group can sponsor a specific child ($30 per month) and become responsible for her/him.
    • Education Programs: School-based educational enrichment, extra-curricular activities, high school scholarships, school supplies and related support enhances the teaching and learning environments for children/pupils.
    • Basic Needs: Providing hot meals at school, personal hygiene supplies, shoes, clean uniforms, and identifying opportunities for crisis support via our social worker and ministerial outreach team.
    • Economic Empowerment: Skills and entrepreneurial training projects to engender economic independence among female single parents of the children we serve.
    • Healthcare Initiatives: Identifying urgent healthcare needs and either making connections with local resources or paying for emergency assistance. Disease prevention is a key focus.
    • Mission Trips: As of December 2025, 15 mission teams have visited Kenya to provide medical assessments, relational support, monitor progress of programs, and identify emerging needs. (The trips are all no-host. Team members raise their own funds to pay travel expenses.)

    Impact:

Our initiatives have positively affected hundreds of individuals (orphans, widows, children, female single parents) across several communities:

    • Education: Over 30 female high school students have been provided scholarships for their school fees; 600 children daily receive a hot school lunch or breakfast porridge.

    About Us

Our flagship service is providing meals to children in poverty while they are at school. Meals include everything from porridge for breakfast to hot lunch. Additionally, we offer individual child sponsorships, high school scholarships, educational enrichment, emergency assistance, and social work services to our families. Mission trips to Kenya several times a year allow us to reinforce relationships and allow teams to enhance our work real-time, in-country.
