About Us

“Tubahumurize”a Kinyarwanda word meaning “to console and give hope” Tubahumurize Association’s mission is to support and empower socially and economically marginalized women living in Rwanda. Most are survivors of gender-based violence and oppression, and many are living with HIV/AIDS, due to rape during the genocide, and are genocide survivors. Tubahumurize is a Christian based organization, however it is not affiliated with any particular Christian church or sector, as it is open to all women in need. Tubahumurize serves women regardless of their age, ethnicity, nationality or religion. In particular: Genocide survivors Victims of gender-based violence and oppression Women living with HIV/AIDS and other critical illnesses Single mothers, grandmothers and orphan girls heading up households Widows Many of the 300 organization’s beneficiaries fall into more than one of these categories. The organisation also indirectly serves children, including orphans (from the genocide or AIDS), and other dependents that may be incapacitated due to illness or age.
