About Us

We are a recently created not for profit 501(c)(3) organization started by four colleagues at University of Cambridge (UK) each from a different country (i.e. USA, Chile, Ukraine, Jordan) with an expanded network of affiliated institutions, and colleagues in Mexico, Greece, India, and South Africa. We work in the area of social and educational research mainly with economically marginalized or otherwise disenfranchised youth, and predominantly with methods eliciting youth voice. We are all post-doctoral researchers, and are strongly committed to social justice, have an international focus (North America, South America, Middle East, and former Soviet Union), and diverse interests (from anthropology, psychology, sociology, and public health). We are currently developing several small-scale projects (including, for example, a project on Tatar youth in the Crimea, and one working with homeless youth in New York City, London, and Vancouver). Hoping to capitalize on our geographical and cultural diversity as researchers we are also developing larger-scaled international projects including, most significantly, a transnational study examining access and attrition in higher education across eight countries. The importance of bringing an international lens to understand the complex issues impacting local youth is one of our driving principles.
