To give thanks to the diversity of all the cultures and persons of the world. To empower us all to act in love, create a universal movement that not only enriches your life but the lives of everyone else around you, and to put aside a day when the world can forget their differences, break bread, and eat for peace.
Eat4Peace is a holiday on April 11th that celebrates the unity, understanding, and acceptance of all people, cultures, and races worldwide. This holiday is providing a day to learn about people that are different from yourself and to share a piece of your culture though food.
Eat4Peace day is celebrated over a meal while sharing something new that you have learned about a different type of person or culture.
Our goal is to end bullying, stereotyping, name calling, and discrimination in schools by educating youth on different cultures.
In this next year we will be working to spread Eat4Peace Day to all schools in the Philadelphia Tri-state region. On Eat4Peace Day, schools are Skyping other schools to learn about their culture. They are also celebrating in their own classrooms by having an international food day and sharing what is unique about their culture through their food.
Why Eat-4Peace? When you invite someone into your home that you know or do not know, during that time you accept that person for everything that they are. Whether they are a different gender, gender identity, religion, race, culture, height, weight, accent, etc., you don’t linger on your differences but talk about relating topics. You break bread and commune with them. That is the essence of Eat4Peace; not judging others based on their differences and accepting them for who they are.
