  • Mission

Our mission is to welcome and partner with those who have sought refuge, employing strengths-based educational approaches and community supports so they may thrive in our shared communities.

    About Us

Refugee & Immigrant Transitions programs provide home-based English language instruction and an introduction to American culture. Tutors receive extensive training and resources for this unique opportunity to teach English to refugees and immigrants in their home environment. Together students and tutors address the life skills which the students identify as most necessary. Tutors incorporate information about American culture and institutions into their lessons, helping students understand and adjust to a new way of life. Extensive information about volunteering (schedules, time commitment, all requirements, and more) and volunteer applications are available here: http://www.reftrans.org/apply.
