About Us

Workforce development is a person-centered approach to economic development. It concentrates on building the skills, knowledge, and behaviors that are needed by individuals in the workforce to deliver services both now and in the future. Nonprofits working in the sector use numerous approaches to allow for both individuals and businesses to reap the benefits. This is ours:

CMC Workforce is a member-based Construction Industry-focused organization working toward a fair, safe, inclusive and equitable workforce within New York City. We do this by investing in its people so that every worker has the hard skills to compete and prosper.

Our career pathway training is employer and industry-based, which means that our men and women are being trained based on long term industry needs in partnership with a specific employer.

This long term commitment for both the worker and employer facilitates the strategic development of skill over the course of years. We utilize on the job training/employment, classroom (theoretical) training and workshop (practical) training.

We engage in organizing, advocacy, business development, trades training, and communications to advance the state of the open shop worker towards this goal: results that are based on the on-the-ground expertise and needs of our members and workers.
