DUMOND CONSERVANCY FOR PRIMATES & TROPICAL FOREST INC

  • Mission

The mission of the DuMond Conservancy is to engage scientists, students, and the public in the understanding and stewardship of nonhuman primates and their tropical forest habitats. We provide care for these unique nocturnal primates in a captive environment and learn as much as we can in a non-invasive behavioral study through observation.

    About Us

The DuMond Conservancy for Primates and Tropical Forests is located on the grounds of Monkey Jungle. We are a non-profit, mission-driven organization based on Education, Research and Conservation. We provide lifetime care for over 50 Owl Monkeys; most have been retired or rescued from biomedical research laboratories. During the day, we rely on volunteers to prepare diets, clean their cages, make creative enrichment items and make sure their environment is safe.

We are open 7 days a week, with our volunteers arriving at 9:30 am and completing their day by 3:30 pm. We prefer our volunteers to commit to at least one day a week but we are willing to work out a volunteer schedule that is suitable to you. While we know schedules can change we depend on individuals such as yourself to help us complete our daily tasks.
