Home & Heart

  • Mission

Our mission is to increase the stock of affordable housing options, support older adults to age in place, and decrease isolation through intergenerational connections.

    About Us

Home & Heart, a new home share program, is an affordable housing solution that matches older adults in Butte County who wish to age in place (home providers), with community members in need of housing (home seekers). While the program is open to all people in need of housing, we prioritize serving college students and those who lost housing in the Camp Fire.

Home & Heart provides trainings to support people in the new living arrangement and on-going support to promote the well-being of both individuals within the match. We also provide monthly follow up calls and home visits to monitor the ongoing housing arrangement and offer conflict resolution as needed.

The Home & Heart program was founded in Fall of 2018 and has since acquired the necessary resources needed to begin solving housing challenges in Butte County. We have developed solid infrastructure, relationships with various community partners, secured partial funding and a part time staff member, and office space. Our goal for this year is to enroll and match at least 30 home share participants, and we need your help!
