    About Us

    ASCENDE BACKGROUND

Ascende is a Spanish-Ghanaian non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 2010. Initially focused on promoting Capoeira, we expanded our programs in 2023 to include boxing. Our unique Capoeira and Boxing Program combines the Afro-Brazilian art of Capoeira with the discipline of boxing to inspire and mentor children and youths in Ghana.

We work with young individuals, teaching Capoeira, boxing, and instilling values of discipline, respect, and teamwork. Our programs aim to promote physical and personal development, while also providing educational and vocational support. Our mission is to continue empowering young Ghanaians through our innovative program, fostering a sense of community, self-discipline, and social responsibility.

In 2011, we successfully hosted the first African Capoeira Festival in Ghana, attracting international volunteers from Spain, Brazil, and Switzerland. This event marked a significant milestone in our organization's history.

As a pioneering organization in the region, we have sparked significant interest among local youths. Our programs provide a unique opportunity for young people to develop new skills, build confidence, and gain valuable life experience. By supporting education and vocational training, we also contribute to the socio-economic development of the community.
