  • Mission

AES World Languages and Cultures Institute (AWLCI) is committed to strengthening communities by bridging the gap between cultures and broadening our students’ horizons. Our community programs empower individuals to overcome cultural and languages barriers and promote harmony and tolerance in the community.

    About Us

AES World Languages and Cultures Institute (AWLCI) was founded in 2010 to address the lack of communication and understanding between community members that leads to poor medical attention and legal representation, underemployment, lack of access to public resources and daily necessities, and cultural conflict within communities. In 2012, the organization launched a flagship series of language classes for community members that focused on Mandarin Chinese, Italian, and Spanish. Since the launch of these programs, AWLCI has taught over 3,000 students, hosted more than 90 multicultural events, and built a network of over 2,000 language learners and cultural enthusiasts. In 2015, AWLCI changed the focus of its programs away from community language courses, towards ESOL classes and targeted language instruction in collaboration with community partners. As of 2024, AWLCI continues to provide high-quality, targeted adult language courses through two main initiatives, the Boston Community ESOL Center (BCEC) and the Boston Medical Spanish Center (BMSC), and looks forward to expanding in the near future to engage even more linguistic communities.
