  • About Us

Washington Wildlife First is a small, grassroots nonprofit based in Washington, whose mission is to leverage the power of the law, informed advocacy, and strategic partnerships to reform Washington’s management of its fish and wildlife, to ensure it is prepared to meet the threats posed by the global extinction crisis, climate change, and habitat loss.

We seek to transform the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife into an agency that respects wildlife’s intrinsic worth, prioritizes the protection of healthy ecosystems, reflects the values of the people of the state, and fulfills its legal mandate to “protect, preserve, and perpetuate” state fish and wildlife.

Our daily work includes campaigns to protect species ranging from salmon and squirrels to orcas and wolves, as well as long-term projects aimed at comprehensive reform.
