    Opera Vista is Houston’s premier contemporary opera company. Founded in 2006 by Artistic Director Viswa Subbaraman, Opera Vista serves the Houston community with its innovative contemporary opera competition and four productions of new operas.

    Houdini the Great by Andy Pape at MFAH’s Bayou Bend on September 22nd Ainadamar by Osvaldo Golijov at Zilkha Hall – The Hobby Center on November 16 th and 17th. The Vista Competition for New Opera at TBA – Late March Voir Dire by Matthew Peterson at TBA – Late March

    The Opera Vista Mission Statement is:

    To promote a deeper understanding of the human spirit across cultural, sociological, and artistic boundaries through the performance of the finest contemporary and cutting edge opera To continue the growth of the operatic tradition by giving living composers a venue through which their works may be performed To establish and develop an audience for new opera through interaction with the community in an effort to expose the ‘uninitiated’ to a new and unexplored art form And to foster a passion for that art form through innovative performance styles and practices
