About Us

DDI is a non-profit organization whose mission is to model, teach, and inspire people to live in resilient and regenerative ways. Deep Dirt Farm (DDF) is a working permaculture farm where people learn how to live simply, repurpose waste, grow organic food, make compost, restore the watershed, build with natural materials, propagate native plants, and develop habitat for wildlife and pollinators.

Over the past 13 years, Kate Tirion, owner of Deep Dirt Farm, has provided workshops and training for over 4,000 people (including over 3,500 youth ages 12-24) who gained work experience, knowledge, inspiration, and practical tools to be able to make positive changes in their own lives and in the lives of their communities. Deep Dirt Institute is a new non-profit established to house and expand the reach of that educational programming.
