About Us

Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh brings together people to build homes, communities and hope. Reaching across racial, religious, and cultural boundaries, we seek to restore a sense of community, with the common goal of strong neighborhoods and dignity through homeownership.

Over 4,000 families in the City of Newburgh live below 50% of the community median income level, and approximately 18% of all housing in Newburgh is considered substandard by HUD.

Since affiliation in October, 1999, Habitat of Greater Newburgh, Inc., has completed 94 houses, has accepted 97 families into our homeownership program, and added more than $8.3 million to City assessed property values. Our community revitalization efforts include rehabilitation and in-fill in the second largest historic district in NY state.
