Miriam's Kitchen of Washington, DC

There are more than 7,500 people who are homeless in Washington, DC on any given night.

Of those, nearly 2,000 are considered chronically homeless--meaning they have been homeless for years or repeatedly, and are living with a chronic health condition.

Miriam’s Kitchen is committed to ending chronic homelessness in D.C. by creating meaningful connections with chronically homeless individuals, connecting them to permanent supportive housing, and ensuring they have the necessary support to remain in housing.

We advocate for permanent supportive housing as a long-term solution, while meeting short-term needs by providing healthy meals and high-quality social services to more than 4,300 chronically homeless individuals each year.

Miriam's Kitchen was founded in 1983 through a collaboration of The George Washington University Hillel Student Association, Western Presbyterian Church and United Church in response to an urgent need for services for the homeless in Washington, DC.
