Catalina Island Marine Institute

Guided Discoveries strives to make a difference in the lives of children through unique opportunities of discovery. Since 1978, Guided Discoveries has developed and operated a variety of outdoor education programs and summer camps, including Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI) located on Catalina Island, California.

The CIMI program serves about 30,000 children annually. Our hands-on marine science program helps teachers expand their classrooms by encouraging students to push personal boundaries and to appreciate the ocean. Our island facilities are located in protected coves that serve as the perfect settings for snorkeling, kayaking and hiking. We also have marine labs and dynamic classrooms that create a well-rounded, outdoor education platform.
