    Kutztown University of Pennsylvania is a member of the State System of Higher Education, was founded in 1866 as the Keystone Normal School, became Kutztown State Teachers College in 1928, Kutztown State College in 1960, and achieved university status in 1983. The graduate program began in 1960. Today, the university is a modern, comprehensive insitution and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, PA Department of Education, NCATE, NCACE, CSWE, NASM, and NASAD.
