About Us

YWCA Monterey County was founded in 1971 as a career center, evolving to offer domestic violence prevention and intervention services in response to community needs. In 2010, the YWCA- MC opened its office in Salinas expanding programs to fill service gaps left by the closure in 2007

of the Women’s Crisis Center. YWCA–MC is currently the lead agency in Monterey County offering domestic violence and human trafficking services, and continues to provide programs and multi- agency collaborations to prevent violence at the individual, relationship, community, and societal levels. The YWCA-MC is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
