California Sea Grant - Russian River Salmon and Steelhead Monitoring Program

Russian River Monitoring Program:

For more than a decade, California Sea Grant’s Russian River Salmon and Steelhead Monitoring Program has been conducting broad-scale monitoring and specialized research under the leadership of Extension Specialist Mariska Obedzinski. Located in Windsor, California, we monitor native salmon and steelhead at all life stages and work closely with partners to support salmonid recovery efforts throughout the Russian River basin. 

California Sea Grant:

California Sea Grant is a collaboration of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the State of California and universities across the state to create knowledge, products and services that benefit the economy, the environment and the citizens of California.

Specifically, we offer these services for coastal and marine science and policy issues:

• Extension specialists dedicated to impartial research and outreach for coastal stakeholders and communities

California Sea Grant is one of 34 state programs funded by the National Sea Grant College Program, part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Matching funds come from the state and private sources. California Sea Grant is administered by Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego.
