    About Us

Galveston Housing Plus (GH+), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is a Galveston Island based comprehensive transitional housing program for adults experiencing homelessness. The first of its kind within our community, GH+ was developed through multi-entity collaborations to be responsive to the unmet need for safe, viable transitional housing with in-house evidence-based and person-centered services for the unhoused members of our community. The first cohort of residents moved into the facility in October 2024. Residences consist of a single-site residential campus of individual efficiency style apartments with communal kitchen / dining / living room / outdoor spaces. Services have been developed and provided in collaboration with residents, centering around what they determine to be most helpful as they continue to flourish and obtain long-term permanent housing. Operations are supported by an engaged and committed board and significant support from the local community, with 2 years of operating expenses secured. Our collaborative approach extends beyond direct resident services and involves working closely with a strong network of social, medical, and other service providers. We are deeply committed to honoring the inherent dignity and worth of all people, with compassion, authenticity, and a holistic, person-centered approach to service delivery. This approach embraces both residents and staff.
