Story Tapestries uses the power of the arts to break down barriers to learning, successfully closing the achievement gap and creating new possibilities for students. 

Story Tapestries seeks to:

• Increase access to arts integration programs in high-need communities
• Become a resource for arts integration in education and community development online and in person
• Strengthen communities by helping collaborators build self-sufficient, sustainable arts-based programs
• Shift the narrative in communities facing high rates of bias incidents and hate crimes to shine light on personal stories that facilitate deeper understanding and human connection

Using arts-based methods helps individuals at every ability level to develop a deeper understanding of information by creating tangible, visceral experiences that make new knowledge “stick.”  Known as Arts Integration, Story Tapestries employs an approach to teaching that utilizes multiple art forms to increase understanding in various subject areas. Using this paradigm, Story Tapestries can meet needs in a community that are not always served by conventional programming. Arts also have the power to enhance our ability to communicate our deepest thoughts and feelings, beyond the limits of spoken and written language, which enables every individual to share something of themselves.
