  • About Us

NISS was established in 1991 by the national statistics societies and the Research Triangle universities and organizations, with the mission to identify, catalyze and foster high-impact, cross- disciplinary research involving the statistical sciences. Our principal activities are research projects in such areas as bioinformatics, data confidentiality, data integration, data quality, information technology, the environment, education statistics, large, complex databases, and computer model evaluation; information dissemination through technology days, workshops and short courses; and programs for postdoctoral fellows and visitors. Many of these are conducted in collaboration with industrial, government and university affiliates.
