  • About Us

STARS' Vision: Saving lives through partnership, innovation and leadership.

STARS’ Mission Statement: STARS is dedicated to providing a safe, rapid, highly specialized emergency medical transport system for the critically ill and injured.

The Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS) is a community-based non-profit charitable organization. About 75 per cent of funding needs are met through private donations received from individuals, service groups, businesses and corporations. An additional 25 per cent of funding is through a collaborative affiliation agreement with Alberta Health Services.

STARS has operated from a Calgary base since 1985. The Edmonton base started operations in 1991. The Grande Prairie base opened in 2006.
