About Us

Bici Libre is a volunteer run bicycle co-operative. We're a project of the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC).

Co-operative Overview

Bici Libre started after another project (Bike Wrangler) fulfilled its grant requirement. A number of volunteers had been advocating for transferring the project into a bicycle co-op similar to other existing shops in Los Angeles (eg Bicycle Kitchen, BIke Oven). We also merged with the Bici Digna project during the beginning of our transfer to a co-op, largely because many of us had a deep appreciation for the Bici Digna project, and the volunteers of that project enjoyed the Bici Libre location/space. We have profesional workstands and tools for most bicycle repairs. We operate on a donation based format for all used items, and we have set prices for a few new items that we stock. *No One will be turned away for a lack of funds*. We also have a work-trade program; inquire at the shop. We encourage our participants to support local bike shops for most new items, and to use our space for finding used items, working on their bikes, volunteering, and learning about bicycle mechanics. We also hope that residents will look beyond the mechanics and obtaining bicycles by participating in the project as way to build/promote community-based projects. We work together to confront our challenges, and we work together to enjoy the fun. Bicycles are fun, we have fun together, and you should join us. -Bici Libre
