  • Mission

The mission of the Black Student Pharmacist Organization (BSPO) is to effectively recruit, serve, and retain underrepresented minority students studying pharmacy by enhancing their academic experience through various systems of support: Informational/Education, Academic, Social, & Community Service.

    About Us

The Black Student Pharmacist Organization (BSPO) is a 501(c)(3) organization that was founded on February 19, 2019 at the University of Missouri-Kansas City by two students, Essence Daniels-Brewer and Charley Edwards. Essence and Charley started BSPO with the goal of supporting and enhancing the academic experience of Black students. The purpose of BSPO is to provide a space for Black students to feel a sense of community and belonging.

BSPO now has chapters at 3 universities across the United States all with the vision to revolutionize pharmacy education by championing inclusivity and diversity. We will achieve this by advocating for fair admissions policies, supporting diversity initiatives, offering scholarships, fostering networking opportunities, and expanding our impact to universities nationwide. Our goal is to create a future where the pharmacy profession is marked by equity and excellence.
