  • About Us

Our work is focused primarily in Maricopa County – the greater Phoenix metropolitan area – although we are occasionally engaged in statewide projects.

SLHI pursues its mission in four general areas:

Arizona Health Futures. SLHI’s health policy and education arm is dedicated to conducting relevant and timely policy research; providing balanced, non-partisan information and perspectives on health issues in Arizona; serving as a convener and forum for the critical discussion of those issues in an independent and policy-neutral setting; and translating good ideas into action through the support of community-based initiatives. Browse our current issue briefs, policy primers and studies/research, and sign up to receive notice of new publications when they become available.

Community Partnership Grants. Our partnerships program is focused on increasing the organizational capacity of health and human service organizations, as well as on promoting grassroots community development. See community partnership grants for more information.

Medical Assistance. A portion of our funds is restricted to direct medical assistance for persons in need through a network of community health partners. See medical assistance for details.

Affiliate Organizations. SLHI provides support to The Board of Visitors, The Hon Kachina Council, and The Tempe Governors – which formerly raised funds for SLHI’s predecessor nonprofit hospital system and now raise funds for community health needs and volunteer recognition.
