Radcliffe Room

About Us

The Radcliffe Room is the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church's ministry in downtown Washington, DC, serving men and women who live on the city's streets and shelters. We are an all-volunteer program that provides food, clothing and friendship to more than 100 homeless men and women every Sunday morning. We are looking for volunteers as we attempt to broaden and deepen our connection to the homeless population. No experience is required, and people of all beliefs -- or no particular beliefs -- are welcome to join us. All you need is a desire to help others. Volunteers choose their own level of time commitment. We pick up leftover food from generous businesses throughout the metro area and collect secondhand and new clothing, all of which is shared with our homeless friends on Sunday mornings. It's a friendly, sometimes boisterous environment with discussions of politics, sports, art, books, even religion. Many of us have made friends in the homeless community (and make no mistake, it is a community). Please consider joining us. Speaking from experience, we think it is a decision you will never regret.
