The Co-operative Alliance of Kenya (CAK) is the National Apex Organization for Kenya’s Co-operative Movement. Its membership consists of over 14,000 Co-operatives comprising the National Co-operative Organizations (NACOs), Co-operative Unions and Primary Co-operative Societies. The individual Co-operative members to these Co-operatives are over 10 million.
The mandate of CAK is to lobby and advocate for a favorable and enabling policy and legal environment for Co-operatives with an aim of creating harmony in the Co-operative Movement. CAK endeavors to promote Co-operative Development, to unite the Co-operative Movement and to represent the Co-operative interests on all matters of policy and legal framework and is the spokesperson of the Co-operative Movement in Kenya.
