The Coastal Therapeutic Riding Program

The Coastal Therapeutic Riding Program (CTRP) empowers individuals with special needs through premier equine-assisted activities and therapies. By leveraging the unique bond between horse and rider, we foster measurable physical, cognitive, and emotional growth. Our mission is to provide a certified, supportive environment where participants of all abilities can achieve greater independence, confidence, and improved quality of life.

Our Program is directly impacting people in our community to better their health and wellness. Equine assisted activities and therapies improve the participants quality of life. The improvement of physical skills includes greater strength, coordination, balance, joint mobility, flexibility, gross and fine motor skills. We see increases in the clients’ cognitive function through improved memory, natural examples of cause and effect as well as work on sensory issues. Emotional well-being is improved through increased confidence and self-esteem. The social skills impacted include sharing, following directions, recognizing social cues, increased patience, and practicing communication skills. Educational knowledge is increased through exercises in vocabulary, sequencing, colors, shapes and numbers.
