  • Mission

"Helping People To Help Themselves" Bluffton Self Help was founded to help those individuals in the greater Bluffton area who are in need of short-term emergency assistance by providing them with basic human needs ( food, clothing, shelter, medicine) while encouraging them to become self-reliant.

    About Us

Bluffton Self Help was founded in 1987 by Mrs. Ida Martin to help Bluffton working families and senior citizens who were in emergency need of food and clothing. In addition, we offer financial assistance for rent, heat, electricity, natural gas, water and vital medications. We also provide Thanksgiving dinners to those in need and give toys to children at Christmas who would otherwise go without.

Volunteers at Bluffton Self Help sort the donated items and help distribute them to those in need. They also help in the office with processing applications, answering phones and interviewing those needing financial assistance. They may also help with fundraising and participating in the holiday projects.
