    Imagine the prospect of fighting cancer, now imagine you will be treated at a facility far from your home. The unexpected travel and lodging expenses can place a huge burden on family finances. Since 2008, the American Cancer Society's Peter M Wege Guest House Hope Lodge in Grand Rapids, Michigan offered a solution to cancer patients who must undergo treatment far from home. The Hope Lodge provides housing free of charge on a first-come, first served basis to cancer patients and a caregiver during their course of treatment. The Lodge not only reduces the financial burden, but also provides a much needed supportive environment.

    About Us

    The Grand Rapids Hope Lodge is the first Hope Lodge in Michigan and the Society's 25th in the country. The Hope Lodge is located in downtown Grand Rapids' Heartside neighborhood, just minutes from the area's top medical facilities. Offering lodging and transportation to and from Grand Rapids cancer treatment centers free of charge, the Hope Lodge is a home-away-from-home for adult cancer patients and their caregivers who must travel to Grand Rapids for treatment.

    Aside from treatment, loding and transportation are among the highest costs associated with a cancer diagnosis. By helping to defray these costs, the Hope Lodge serves as one of the most tangible demonstrations of the American Cancer Society's mission in the community.

    Guests at the Hope Lodge have individual rooms and share common areas, such as living rooms and kitchens. The interaction with other patients, caregivers, staff, and volunteers provides for an atmosphere of hope, compassion, and friendship that is so important in the cancer journey.
