Northside Community Center, St. Louis, MO

About Us

The mission of Northside Community Center is to enhance the quality of life of its clients by serving the basic needs of the elderly, children, and families in the Ville and the Greater Ville neighborhoods by providing access to education, counseling, and health services; recreation and social programs; daily nutritional meals; and affordable housing.

For seniors, the Center initiated its Meals-on-Wheels program for disabled elderly residents and its Congregate Meal program to provide seniors with opportunities for recreation and socialization. For youth the Center offers tutoring, a summer camp, recreation and opportunities for constructive leisure. In 1978, a housing program began. A number of derelict buildings in stable blocks were purchased and rehabilitated for rental housing for low-income families and senior citizens. Since 1978, 80 units of rental housing have been developed. These properties are all owned and managed by the Center.
