About Us

MED‑Project provides for the collection and disposal of unwanted pharmaceutical products from households as mandated by legislation. Our collection and disposal services provide patients with the ability to safely dispose of unwanted medicines.

MED‑Project was established by the Pharmaceutical Product Stewardship Work Group, which was formed to facilitate cooperative efforts among pharmaceutical producers to address the collection and disposal of unwanted pharmaceutical products from households. MED-Project operates community-level pharmaceutical product stewardship take-back programs in compliance with and as mandated by legislation.

MED-Project’s policy is to comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and other legal requirements. From the collection, transportation, and ultimately disposal of unwanted medicines, MED-Project has established processes to provide compliant services.

MED‑Project establishes a collection system that provides convenient access to patients and residents. The collection system is designed to be safe and secure on an ongoing, year-round basis. Collection sites participating in the program use a MED‑Project kiosk that is securely placed, maintained inside the collection site, and open to the public.

MED‑Project maintains a Help Desk to support collection sites. Live agents collect the callers’ information and provide directions to the appropriate MED‑Project resources in response.

MED‑Project provides for the transportation and disposal of household-generated unwanted pharmaceutical products once they are collected. The unwanted pharmaceutical products are destroyed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
