  • Mission

Our Mission is to find a safe, loving and appropriate home for every homeless pet, including those with special needs or challenges. We strive to treat, heal, and provide optimal well-being for the animals placed in our care; and to create an environment where our animals receive love, respect and attention.

    About Us

Formerly the Plainfield Area Humane Society, we’re now Hope4Paws Humane Society—a name that better reflects our evolving vision to bring hope, healing, and homes to animals in need.

We proudly serve the communities of Berkeley Heights, Springfield, North Plainfield, South Plainfield, Scotch Plains, and Bound Brook in New Jersey.

Every animal deserves a safe, loving home.

As we look to the future, Hope4Paws is dedicated to expanding our impact—not just through rescue and adoption, but by growing our capacity for rescue and adoption. Through generous donations, vital grants, and strong community partnerships, we’re laying the foundation for a larger facility that can welcome even more animals in need.

    Our Vision

We envision a world where no animal is homeless and thrives in a safe and loving home. We envision a world where no pet is homeless For over nine decades, we’ve been a beacon of hope for thousands of cats and dogs—and we’re proud to continue that legacy today as a no-kill shelter.

What Does “No-Kill” Mean to Us?

It means we never euthanize animals due to space or time limits. Instead, we focus on healing, treating, and rehoming every healthy and treatable pet, even those with special needs or behavioral challenges. Euthanasia is reserved only for animals suffering from untreatable conditions or posing a serious public safety risk.

    Our Core Values

At Hope4Paws, every paw matters. We’re driven by a deep commitment to:

    Respect for all animals

Care and nurturing for those in need

Protection for the voiceless and vulnerable

Education to build more compassionate communities

Our small but compassionate team of animal advocates—along with our volunteer-based Board of Trustees—work tirelessly to ensure every animal receives the love, attention, and medical care they deserve.
