Herizon Music Foundation (a 501c3 headquartered in Austin, TX) is on a mission to to help women create a career path toward merit-based success in the music industry. We offer education, work, and role-modeling programs. Women in Music are ready to work, and so are we!

We envision a music industry where women can achieve success based on merit. While 45% - 50% of ticket sales and music streams are from women, their representation is far from equal. Herizon Music has identified the "Big 4" gender bias obstacles women face in the music industry: age, appearance, familial status, and orientation.

12% of major music festival acts are female or female fronted

5% of working audio engineers are women

23% of working music producers are women

10% to 30% of radio programming is reserved for women, depending on the genre

25% of women in music don't know where their next dollar is coming from (2021)

1/3 of women in music are suffering a mental health crisis in the wake of the pandemic

By providing access to education, paid work experience, and role models, we can change the narrative.

Current Projects:

• Random Acts of Music virtual booking service. Connecting female acts with virtual event hosts for paid gigs to supplement income when touring and late-night club shows are not an option. Women in music are ready to work, and so are we!
• Scholarship program. Partnering with Girls Rock Austin and SoundGirls.org, offering financial assistance for teen music camps and professional development classes/conferences. The Rising Star merit award goes to one nominated teen each year and includes a Girls Rock camp scholarship, a podcast interview, paid virtual performance, and introductions to music industry professionals.
• Backstage Chats with Women in Music. A podcast hosted by founder Thea Wood, who interviews rising stars and trailblazers who share their stories. Inspiring, entertaining, and relatable to music lovers of all ages and backgrounds.

Herizon Music has been honored with the support of brands like Tito's Handmade Vodka, Kendra Scott jewelry, Giving Out Loud, RAS Associates, and more. Music icons who have supported the cause include Joan Jett, Carole King, Kathy Valentine (The Go-Go's), Melissa Etheridge, Reba McEntire, Daryl Hall, and the list grows!
