HPAIR Asia Conference 2012, India Bid Team

HPAIR stands for Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations. Its a collaboration between the students and faculty of Harvard University to promote discourse on critical issues affecting Asia and its relations with the world. HPAIR Conference is the most prestigious conference hosted by Harvard outside the American Continent.

An effort started in 1991 which has brought together students from the world’s foremost universities and leaders in government, business, culture, and academia. HPAIR Asia Conference is a 5-day academic program with six panel workshops conducted concurrently throughout the conference. It is hosted by a different Asia-pacific university each year. In the past, the HPAIR Conference has travelled to cities all over Asia. The HPAIR Conference has been held in the exuberant cities of Singapore, Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, etc. hosted in collaboration with the most prestigious Universities. The conference has been graced in the past by eminent personalities like Ban- Ki-Moon, UN Secretary General, Kim- Young, Sam, Former President of the Republic of Korea, S.R.Nathan, President of Singapore etc. In its long history of twenty years the conference has been held in India only once, in 2006 in the city of Mumbai. The conference that year was hosted by Indian Institute of Management(IIM) Ahemdabad. India is has emerged as a major force in Asia in recent years, and given its robust economy and young population, India’s influence as a major player on world stage is expected to grow in the near future.
