About Us

The mission of the Whidbey Homeless Coalition is to make homelessness a brief and rare experience in our community. The Coalition was started when a broad group of concerned individuals, local government and community organizations came together to recognize and solve the growing problem of homelessness on Whidbey Island. We work closely with the Housing Support Center, a one-stop access and registration system, run by Island County. WA.

We offer emergency shelter, transitional housing and mentoring support to homeless individuals and families living on Whidbey Island. Our programs include:

  • The House of Hope, 90-day transitional shelter for families and vulnerable adults in Langley.
  • A transitional housing Master Lease program with five houses throughout Island County.
  • A mentorship program for House of Hope and Master Lease tenants, with guest support services including financial literacy education.
  • The Haven, a year-round nightly 30-bed emergency shelter, that is hosted on a rotating basis by church communities in Oak Harbor.

Our programs are funded through the generous gifts - in dollars, skills, and materials - from the community as well as grants from Island County.
