  • About Us

Manhattan New Music Project (MNMP) aims to foster the creation and presentation of contemporary music while offering student populations opportunities to engage in the artistic creation process.

Originally conceived as a performing ensemble, MNMP now presents challenging music by living composers as part of three NYC-based concert series: New York Anthems, Interactive Music Series, and New Composers Series. Concerts are performed in a variety of venues designed to reach and build new audiences for new music, including public parks, art galleries, and accessibly priced recital halls.

Within our educational programs, we have broadened our scope beyond music to incorporate other artistic forms and demonstrate the interdisciplinary nature of art-making. On an annual basis, MNMP provides thousands of New York City public school students with standards-based arts education through in-school and after-school residencies, and professional development for educators. These programs offer hands-on artistic experiences for students and sustained arts training opportunities for teachers, to encourage the integration of arts into everyday classroom learning.
