  • About Us

Sojourner Truth Academy is an open-enrollment charter high school finishing its third year. We aim to empower and equip students to become scholar-leaders using college preparation and social-justice activism as vehicles for the rebirth and strengthening of their own community.

We believe: All students will participate in a rigorous, standards-based and results-driven curriculum that facilitates life long academic and professional growth; All students will be accountable for their own educational path, personal relationships and growth of their community; All stake-holders abide by the principle of "each one teach one" responsible not only for our own success and learning, but for that of our community and classmates as well.

STA is currently located in Uptown New Orleans, on the corner of Napoleon and Freret. The school is free and open to all students – 95% of the student body receives free or reduced lunch.

The 2011-2012 school year will be the first with a senior class, and we are currently recruiting upper-level teachers for subjects including Pre-Calculus, English IV, AP English, Physics, and World History.
