SEATTLE LIVE ALOHA HAWAIIAN CULTURAL FESTIVAL

  • Mission

The Live Aloha Hawaiian Cultural Festival serves to promote, perpetuate and share the Hawaiian culture in the Pacific Northwest by enriching and strengthening the Hawaiian community and celebrating the arts and culture of Hawai'i.

    About Us

This family-oriented cultural event is a great opportunity for Washington residents to experience the culture of Hawai'i that is available to them right here in the Pacific Northwest. As the population of Hawaiians grows in Washington, so does the number of generations born here away from their home and culture. The Live Aloha Hawaiian Cultural Festival is Washington State's premier Hawaiian cultural showcase, a celebration of Hawaii's music, dance and history intended to preserve and perpetuate the unique island traditions.

We are in our 14th year and are part of Seattle Centerʻs Festal umbrella of cultural festivals. We attract 18,000 to 20,000 attendees to the one-day festival on the second Sunday of September each year, and when we can, we offer cultural workshops on the day prior. We feature guest artists from the islands of Hawaiʻi every year, plus local musicians and dance performances by hula hālau. Lei making, hula, ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi (language), kapa making, Hawaiian history, wayfinding, and feather arts have all been offered throughout the years weʻve held the Festival. We also support our local and island vendors of food, crafts, jewelry, and Hawaiian clothing by providing space for them to feed us and sell their wares!

During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, we were able to offer an online music and hula performances and support local and Hawaiian online vendors to keep our community engaged. We are very happy to be back to an in-person Festival this year.
